OFFICE OF THE DISTRICT ELECTION COMMISSIONER 14-GM AL-MARKAZ, F-8, ISLAMABAD

 Islamabad, the 11th February, 2013: On the direction of the Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan, a meeting of the District Election Commissioner, Islamabad, Mr. Aleem Shahab was held for finalization of draft list of Polling Station for upcoming General Elections-2013 in his office in Islamabad today at 11:00 a.m. with all the Political Parties and stakeholders.   The meeting was presided over by Mr. Zahoor Ahmed Pasha, Regional Election Commissioner, Rawalpindi. A large number of representatives of Political Parties from Pakistan People Party (PPP), Pakistan People Party Parliamentary (PPPP), Pakistan Muslim League (N), (T.T.P), Jamat-e-Islamai (J.I) etc. and stakeholders attended the meeting.  The aim of conducting this meeting was to discuss the proposed list of Polling Stations for upcoming General Election-2013.  The participants’ of the meeting was requested to file objections, if any, within 7 days i.e. from 12th February, 2013 to 18th February, 2013 in the office of District Election Commissioner, Islamabad.     

2.                     It is pointed out that the above mentioned draft Polling Scheme which was drawn by the committee constituted for the purpose, which consisted of District Election Commissioner, Islamabad Ch. Aleem Shahab, City Magistrate and Deputy Director of Education, Islamabad.  The above mentioned draft Polling Scheme relating to NA-48, Islamabad-I and NA-49, Islamabad-II was displayed in the offices of all U.C.s of Islamabad as well as in the office of District Election Commissioner, Islamabad F-8 Markaz and all political parties and stakeholders were invited for filing objections in the month of December, 2012.

3.                     To facilitate the voters of the Federal Capital Islamabad, District Election Commissioner, Islamabad with the consultation of the Committee constituted for the purpose, has increased the number of Polling Station for two National Assemblies Constituencies NA-48 and NA-49, Islamabad from the existing 182 to 261 and 197 to 285, respectively.

 

4.                     The decision has been made in the light of Supreme Court Orders that polling station should not be at a distance of more than two kilometers from the voters’ residence. The Federal Capital consists of 14 union councils and has been divided in two constituencies for the two National Assembly seats in which there were 379 polling stations and the number has now been increased to 546.

5.                     The District Election Commissioner, Islamabad has requested the residence of ICT to check their names, whether they enrolled as voter or not in the electoral rolls through sending message at number 8300 via mobile putting CNIC number (without entering desh). For transfer of vote from one place to another and fresh enrolment, Form-A has been devised, which is available at the Election Commission website www.ecp.gov.pk and District Election Commissioner Office 14-G.M. Al Markaz, F-8, Islamabad (Phone No. 9261003) as well as all Area Education Officer can be contacted on phone numbers, 9239369, 9243146,4492009,9255766 and 2295748.
