Mr. Sikandar Sultan Raja
Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan
Mr. Sikandar Sultan Raja belongs to Bhera, district Sargodha. He completed his early education from the most prestigious institutions of the country. He did his Matric and F.Sc. from Cadet College Hassan Abdal and then graduated from King Edward Medical College Lahore with a degree in medicine. He also got degree in Law (LLB) from Punjab University. He got inducted into the civil service (DMG/PAS) through FPSC in 1987 and belongs to the 15th Common Training Program (15th CTP) Batch. After completing training, he was posted as Assistant Commissioner, Islamabad in 1989. He served on many key positions such as Deputy Commissioner, Islamabad, Director General Excise and Taxation Punjab, Secretary of Communication & Works, Services and General Administration, and Local Government and Community Development Departments in Punjab. He introduced various reforms for the benefit of the general public while serving as Director General Immigration and Passport in the Federal Government. He earned much praise for his efforts to curb corruption and ensure good governance in Gilgit Baltistan as Chief Secretary. He ensured peaceful, free and fair elections as Chief Secretary AJK in 2016.
He joined the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources in April 2017 as Federal Secretary. He also served as Chairman PARCO and Director on the Boards of Sui Northern Gas Company Limited (SNGPL), Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), Pak-Arab Refinery Limited (PARCO) and Pakistan LNG Ltd. He was appointed as Federal Secretary/Chairman Pakistan Railways on 26th November, 2018. The President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan appointed Mr. Sikandar Sultan Raja as Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan on 27th January, 2020 for a period of five years.
