2252 NATIONAL ASSEMBLY AND 5083 PROVINCIAL ASSEMBLIES CANDIDATES REMAIN IN THE FIELD.
Islamabad, the 17th December, 2007.— The Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan has informed that after the withdrawal of candidature on 15-12-2007, the date of publication of revised lists of candidates to be published by the Returning Officers concerned of the respective constituencies was 16th December, 2007
2. For 272 General Seats of the National Assembly, there remain 2252 contesting candidates, whereas, for 577 Provincial Assemblies constituencies 5083 candidates remain in the field to contest the General Elections, 2007-08. In all, the total contesting candidates in the National and Provincial Assemblies constituencies are 7335. The detail is as under:

3. The Secretary, Election Commission has further informed that all the Returning Officers have dispatched the lists of contesting candidates, mentioning therein the names and the symbols of the contesting candidates, to the Provincial Election Commissioners. The process of printing of the Ballot Papers has now commenced at different Government Presses in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi.
