Acting Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan has taken notice of news
Islamabad, the 25th July, 2005.- Mr. Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, Acting Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan has taken notice of news item appearing in a section of press alleging that many candidates and their proposers and seconders had either been kidnapped or detained to prevent them from attending the scrutiny of their nomination papers in the premises of the Courts. He has directed the Chief Secretary, Sindh, Provincial Police Officer, Sindh, District Returning Officers/District & Sessions Judges, Hyderabad, Ghotki, Umerkot, Tharparkar, Jamshoro and Karachi (Central) and District Police Officers of the aforementioned districts to send their reports by 26th July, 2005.
2. The Chief Election Commissioner has once again reminded all Government functionaries and candidates to follow Code of Conduct in letter and spirit and avoid its violation, which can render them liable for appropriate action in accordance with law.
