Briefing by Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad to Delegation of Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC)
Islamabad, February 19, 2008.-Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad has said that the Elections is important that the nation stand united. Election is the voice of the nation. That he said while briefing the OIC (Organization of Islamic Countries) Delegation visited Election Commission of Pakistan Secretariat, February, 19, 2008.
Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan said that, I feel immense pleasure in telling you that by Grace of Almighty Allah Election Commission has fulfilled its commitment to hold Free, Fair and Transparent Elections. I would like to congratulate the entire team of the Election Commission for coming out with Flying Colors under the Leadership and Guidance of Honorable Chief Election Commissioner, Justice (Retd) Qazi Muhammad Farooq. We are extremely Grateful to Almighty Allah, for enabling us to successfully accomplish this task.
He said, the General Elections 2008 is not only a historical landmark for the Election Commission but also a great achievement of the Pakistani Nation. I am sure that all the main stream political parties shall be satisfied and happy with the arrangements made by the Election Commission of Pakistan for the conduct of February 18th 2008 Elections. I would like to mention here that the Media has played a very crucial and positive role in the whole electoral process and not only gave an unbiased coverage of the polling day but also motivated people to come out and elect their representatives. These Elections have laid a foundation for the true and strong democracy for this country and I have no hesitation to say that the history has been written for a Progressive, Democratic and Prosper Pakistan.
The delegates expressed their satisfaction over the efforts and arrangements made by the Election Commission of Pakistan. They said, “Election Commission of Pakistan has done very hard work, we wish the democratic system will groom further after these elections”. They said that, all Election process was very transparent and fair.
