SUBMISSION OF STATEMENTS OF ELECTION EXPENSES
BY RETURNED CANDIDATES.

                      Islamabad, the 29th October, 2005.-Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, Federal Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan said that under the law, all contesting candidates for Local Government Elections-2005 held in 1st Phase, 2nd Phase and 3rd Phase are required to submit their Statements of Election Expenses in the prescribed Form duly supported by an affidavit to the Returning Officers within 35 days of the publication of names of the returned candidates in the official Gazette.
 
2.                    The Federal Secretary, Election Commission has drawn attention of all concerned to the provisions of Local Government Elections Rules of the Provinces and stated that names of the returned candidates for elections in 1st Phase and 2nd Phase have been published in the official Gazette on 23rd August and 30th August, 2005, respectively. Whereas, for elections in the 3rd Phase, the names of returned candidates have been published in the official Gazette on 10th October, 2005. Accordingly, the contesting candidates of 1st Phase, 2nd Phase and 3rd Phase have to submit their Statements of Election Expenses by the due date.
 
3.                    Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad further said that as per provisions of law, a person is guilty of an illegal practice punishable with fine, which extend to rupees two thousand if he fails to submit his Statement of Election Expenses. All concerned are, therefore, advised in their own interest to ensure the submission of said statement before the Returning Officers.
