CEC has drawn attention of the Government to the provisions of Article 8EE of the Conduct of General Elections Order, 2002 and Section 12(3) of the Representation of the People Act,1976
Islamabad, the 20th November, 2007.- Mr. Justice (R) Qazi Muhammad Farooq, Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan has drawn attention of the Government to the provisions of Article 8EE of the Conduct of General Elections Order, 2002 and Section 12(3) of the Representation of the People Act, 1976 and said that under the law, a candidate is required to file his nomination paper before the Returning Officer in person. Therefore, the political detainees, who intend to contest election either be set at liberty forthwith or appropriate arrangements may be made enabling them to appear before the Returning Officer in person for filing their Nomination Papers.
