CHIEF ELECTION COMMISSIONER ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE FOR OATH TAKING BY ELECTED NAZIMS/NAIB NAZIMS AND MEMBERS OF ZILA COUNCILS, TEHSIL/TOWN COUNCILS AND UNION COUNCILS IN ALL THE FOUR PROVINCES.

           Islamabad, the 13th October, 2005.-   Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, Federal Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan has said that process of elections to Union Councils, Tehsil/Town Councils and Zila Councils in all the four Provinces of the country has been completed. He added that the law requires that the elected Nazims and members of Zila Councils and Tehsil/Town Councils as well as Nazims/Naib Nazims and members of Union Councils shall take Oath before assuming the charge of their respective offices.

 

2.       The Federal Secretary, Election Commission further said that in connection with Oath taking, the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner has been pleased to announce the Schedule whereby all elected Nazims/Naib Nazims of all tiers of Local Governments will be administered Oath on 17th October, 2005 and for the purpose, Presiding Officers have been appointed and notified for publication in the official Gazette.


3.                Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad clarified that due to massive devastations of the recent earthquake in N-W.F. Province, holding of Oath taking proceedings is not possible in the entire Manshera, Battagram, Kohistan, Shangla and Abbottabad districts. As such, the Oath taking proceedings have been postponed in these five district of N-W.F.P. till normalcy restores in these areas.
