CHIEF ELECTION COMMISSIONER REJECTED NOMINATION PAPER OF SARDAR TANVEER ILYAS KHAN FOR SENATE ELECTIONS – 2009 FOR GENERAL SEATS FROM NWFP

Islamabad, the 21st February, 2009.- Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan has stated thatin connection with the Senate Elections, 2009 for General Seats from NWFP, a Petition was filed by Sardar Ali Khan, Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel and Haji Ghulam Ali before the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan against enrolment of Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan as a voter in the Electoral Roll, the Extract whereof was attached by him with his Nomination Form for the said Election.
2. Kanwar Dilshad informed that after hearing learned counsel for the parties, the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner has accepted the said Petition by a separate Order and the Nomination Paper of Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan for Election from General Seats in the Senate from NWFP has been rejected. The Returning Officer concerned has been directed to exclude the name of Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan from the List of Validly Nominated Candidates for the aforesaid Seats.
