CHIEF ELECTION COMMISSIONER SHALL NOTIFY BY 15TH OCTOBER, 2007 NAMES OF PARLIAMENTARIANS AND MPAs WHO HAVE NOT FILED STATEMENTS OF ASSETS AND LIABILITIES.

            Islamabad the 2ndOctober, 2007.-      The Spokesman of Election Commission of Pakistan has clarified that under Section  42-A of the Representation of the People Act, 1976 and Section 25-A of the Senate (Election) Act, 1975, Members of the Parliament and Provincial Assemblies are required to submit on the prescribed form to the Election Commission, statements of assets and liabilities of their own, their spouses and dependents by 30th September each year which are published in the Official Gazette in due course of time.

 
2-         Sub-section (3) of Section 42-A expressly provides that the Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan shall by the fifteenth day of October, each year notify the names of members who fail to file statements of assets and liabilities within the period specified and by an Order, direct that such members shall cease to function till such statements are submitted.
 
3-          The Spokesman has further clarified that the checking/compilation of such statements is in progress and the same shall be duly published in the Official Gazette by 15th October, 2007 as required under the law.
