CHIEF SECRETARY, PUNJAB ISSUES INSTRUCTIONS REGARDING POSTINGS/TRANSFERS IN COMPLIANCE WITH DIRECTIVE OF THE ELECTION COMMISSION OF PAKISTAN

SECRETARY ELECTION COMMISSION

Islamabad, the 1st December, 2007.— Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan has stated that the Chief Secretary, Punjab in compliance with the Directive issued by the Election Commission whereby ban has been imposed on postings and transfers of civil servants, has issued instructions to all Administrative Secretaries, Provincial Police Officer and all District Coordination Officers in the Punjab to ensure that no violation of the Directive takes place in the Province and has directed that any cases of postings/transfers which have been made in the presence of the ban on postings/transfers may be withdrawn immediately. In case where the posting/transfer is in acute administrative interest, specific permission for the same may be sought from the Election Commission of Pakistan and in this regard, a summary for the Chief Minister may be initiated for taking the approval of the Chief Minister before making a reference to the Election Commission of Pakistan.
 
2.         The Secretary, Election Commission said that Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan Mr. Justice ® Qazi Muhammad Farooq while appreciating the action taken by the Chief Secretary, Punjab has observed that he has taken a positive step. He has directed that copies of this letter be circulated to the Chief Secretaries of Sindh, NWFP and Balochistan for taking appropriate action on the same line as mentioned in the above letter.
