COMPUTERIZAITON OF FRESH ELECTORAL ROLLS WILL BE A NOTEWORTHY MILESTONE IN THE HISTORY OF ELECTION COMMISSION OF PAKISTAN

Lahore, the 3rd March, 2007.- As per direction of the Honourable Mr. Justice (R) Qazi Muhammad Farooq Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan, Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, Federal Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan presided over a high level meeting in the office of Provincial Election Commissioner, Punjab, Lahore, which was attended by the Provincial Election Commissioners, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and N.W.F.P. as well as Senior Officers of the Election Commission of Pakistan in which “Election”-related matters including the preparation of Computerized Electoral Rolls-2007 was discussed.
2- Federal Secretary informed the participants that Honourable Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan desire that utmost efforts may be made for preparation for fresh computerized electoral rolls.
3- Kanwar Dilshad further added that successful completion of the gigantic operation of preparation and computerization of fresh Electoral Rolls will indeed be a noteworthy milestone in the history of Election Commission of Pakistan. He further informed that the forthcoming General Elections would be observed by the whole world including domestic observers and various monitoring teams are showing keen interest in the process, therefore, earnest efforts should be made to hold the Elections in a free fair and impartial manner. Federal Secretary also visited the Data Entry Center and observed the progress of work and was satisfied
