DRO HANGU ASSURES FULL PARTICIPATION OF WOMEN IN LG ELECTIONS

Islamabad, the 29th May 2015.-           The District Returning Officer (DRO)/ Deputy Commissioner, Hangu has assured the Election Commission of Pakistan that female voters will be free to cast their votes without any hindrance.

In a letter to the Secretary ECP, the DRO, Hangu has stated that so far, no complaint has been received with regard to debarring women from their right of franchise and that the District Administration has kept closed watch on all such illegal plans. Moreover, the Returning Officers have also been directed to take immediate action against all such elements, hindering females from the right of vote.

In this regard, it is added that all the political parties and elders of District Hangu have also assured the Commissioner, Kohat that female voters will cast their votes in favour of their favourite candidates freely and without any pressure.

It is worthwhile to mention here that the ECP had already directed the KPK Government and all DROs to monitor the scenario closely and eradicate any such move in shape of written or verbal agreement, speeches, announcements or any other such instigation which could create the sense of deprivation, discouraging women from their fundamental right of franchise.
