ECP ISSUES NOTICES TO ALL COMPONENT PARTIES OF MMAP FOR HEARING IN CONNECTION WITH ALLOTMENT OF SYMBOL
SECRETARY ELECTION COMMISSION
Islamabad, the 4th December, 2007.— Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, Secretary, Election Commission has stated that the Election Commission of Pakistan in its Meeting held on the 3rd December, 2007 under the Chairmanship of Mr. Justice (R) Qazi Muhammad Farooq, Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan has directed issuance of Notices to the Presidents and Secretaries General of all the following component parties of the Mutahidda Majlis-e-Ammal Pakistan for appearing before the Election Commission on the 9th December, 2007 (Sunday) at 9:30 a.m. in Election Commission Secretariat at Islamabad for hearing regarding allotment of symbols:
(1) Jamiat Ulamae Islam Pakistan (F)
(2) Jamat-e-Islami
(3) Markazi Jamiat-Ahle-Hadees
(4) Jamiat Ulmae Islam Pakistan (S)
(5) Jamiat Ulmae Pakistan
(6) Islami Tehrik-e-Pakistan
Secretary Election Commission explained that Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, Ameer, Jamiat Ulamae Islam, Pakistan, a component of MMAP had requested for allotment of symbol “Book”, whereas Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, another component of MMAP had requested for allotment of symbol “Umbrella”. In view of the fact that the MMAP is a coalition party, the Election Commission has decided to hear the representatives of the component parties of MMAP before allotment of symbols to them.
