LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS-2005
ELECTION CAMPAIGN SHALL COME TO AN END BY MIDNIGHT OF 23RD AUGUST, 2005.

Islamabad, the 21st August, 2005.- Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, Federal Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan has said that in exercise of his powers under Article 2 of the Local Government Elections Order, 2000 and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan Mr. Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar has been pleased to direct that candidates will neither convene corner meetings nor hold election campaign one day before the poll in the districts of 2nd Phase of Local Government Elections, 2005.
2. Accordingly, the election campaign for Local Government Elections, 2005 in the districts of 2nd Phase in all the four Provinces shall come to an end with effect from the midnight falling between the 23rd and 24th August, 2005. All contesting candidates are requested to follow the directions of the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner and exercise self-restraint so that the poll is held in an orderly and peaceful manner on 25th August, 2005
