ELECTION COMMISSION ASKED DETAILS OF EXPATRIATES FROM THE MINISTRY OF OVERSEAS PAKISTANIS

        Islamabad, the 9^th March, 2009.-    Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan has informed that the first Meeting of the Special Committee on Right of Vote to Overseas Pakistanis was held at Lahore on 7^th March, 2009.  He further informed that the Committee has decided that in the first instance, the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis may be moved to supply the details of expatriates showing the number of Overseas Pakistanis (Male and Female) living in 159 countries of the world and their complete particulars including addresses and telephone number, if any, to the Election Commission of Pakistan.  After the receipt the detailed report from Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, necessary modalities and procedures to grant right of vote to Overseas Pakistanis shall be considered vis-à-vis the existing laws/rules and the system of election prevalent in the country.
