ELECTION COMMISSION ISSUES SCHEDULE FOR THE CONDUCT OF BYE-ELECTIONS, 2008
Islamabad, the 14th April, 2008.—Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan has informed that the Schedule for Bye-Elections, 2008 has been issued today by the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner in respect of the following National Assembly and Provincial Assemblies Constituencies:

2. Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad further said that the stages of the Schedule commence from the Filing of Nomination Papers from 15-4-2008 to 21-4-2008 and the date of Poll will be 03-6-2008. The detail of Election Schedule for Bye-Elections is as under:

3. The Secretary, Election Commission clarified that the above said Election Schedule shall also apply for Fresh Elections to the seats rendered vacant in the National Assembly and Provincial Assemblies of the Punjab and NWFP due to said demise of contesting candidates from the following constituencies:

4. The Secretary, Election Commission also informed that the appointments of District Returning Officers, Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers for the conduct of above said Bye-Elections have already been notified by the Election Commission.
5. In addition to above, the Secretary, Election Commission informed that the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner has also announced Schedule for Bye-Elections to five vacant seats in the Senate of Pakistan, the detail whereof is as under:
(i) One General Seat from the FATAs.
(ii) Two General Seats from the NWFP.
(iii) Two Seats, i.e. one General Seat and the other Reserved for Technocrats/Ulema from Balochistan.
