ELECTION PROCEEDINGS TERMINATED DUE TO DEATH OF CONTESTING CANDIDATES

Islamabad, the 4th January, 2008.- The Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan has informed that the Returning Officers of following one National Assembly Constituency from Sindh Province and two Constituencies of the Provincial Assembly of NWFP have terminated the election proceedings by issuing Public Notice under Section 18 of the Representation of the People Act, 1976 due to death of a contesting candidate each from these constituencies as under:

2. As such, fresh proceedings will commence after election schedule for the said constituencies is announced by the Election Commission, in due course of time and in due process of law.
3. The Secretary has further clarified that it shall not be necessary for the remaining contesting candidates to file fresh nomination papers or make further deposit under Section 13 of the Act
