GOVERNMENT OF PUNJAB CONSTITUTES A COMMITTEE TO PROBE INTO THE ALLEGATIONS LEVELLED BY PAKISTAN PEOPLES PARTY PARLIAMENTARIANS

          Islamabad, the 25th January, 2008.- On the Directions of the Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan Mr. Justice (R) Qazi Muhammad Farooq, the Chief Secretary, Government of the Punjab has constituted a Committee comprising Additional Chief Secretary, Secretary LG&CD and the Home Secretary, to probe into the allegations levelled by a delegation of Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians. The Report is to be furnished by the Committee within seven days.

 
2.       The Spokesman of the Election Commission has informed that a delegation headed by Mr. Shah Mehmood Qureshi of Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians, during its meeting with the Provincial Election Commissioner, Punjab had levelled allegations of serious nature, which were brought to the notice of the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner whereupon Provincial Government was directed to probe into the allegations.
