Mr. Imran Khan, Chairman, PTI(Pakistan Tehreek Insaf), yesterday in a press briefing created animpression as if two extensions were granted to me twice by the presentGovernment after May 11, 2013 Elections, I rebut this as totally false andbaseless as the factual position is as under:-i) Had I been fond of seeking extension in service, Iwould not have sent a request to the Governmentfor grant of Leave Preparatory to Retirement (LPR)on 26

February, 2011, when I decided to leave thegovernment service about eight months before mydate of retirement falling on 4
th
November, 2011.However, my pre-mature retirement was notaccepted by the Government vide Establishment
Division’s
letter No.41/332/2009-E.I, dated 28
th
March, 2011.ii) On reaching the age of retirement during the tenureof the then Chief Election Commissioner Mr. Justice® Hamid Ali Mirza, Election Commission sent aSummary to the then Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr.Yousaf Raza Gillani on 12
th
September, 2011 forgrant of
two years’
extension, which was approvedby him on 16
th
September, 2011, notified byEstablishment Division on 1
st
November, 2011 andElection Commission on 3
rd
November, 2011. Thus itis evident that the first extension was granted by thethen Prime Minister of Pakistan, more than two yearsbefore May 11, 2013 General Elections.

iii) Later-on, again, I tendered resignation on 1
st
March,2012 much before May, 2013 Elections. However,once again, the then Prime Minister did not acceptthe same and the Establishment Division directedme vide their U.O. No.41/332/09E-I, dated 14
th
July,2012 to continue as Secretary, Election Commissionof Pakistan for the remaining period of my extension.iv) Finally, after holding of May 11, 2013 Elections, thethen Acting Chief Election Commissioner Mr. JusticeTassaduq Hussain Jillani, who also later-on becameChief Justice of Pakistan, granted me extension foranother year in unanimous agreement with all the
Hon’ble
Members Election Commission, to utilize myservices for holding of Local Government Elections.It is evident as a material fact that the presentGovernment has not granted me any extension afterMay, 2013 Elections.2. It is very unfortunate that a leader of major political party has tried tomalign me on mere surmises, conjecture and without any evidence asmanifested by the factual position explained above.3. This statement is issued to set the record straight and to dispel anywrong impression that may have been created from the aforementionedbaseless statement, which does not contain even an iota of truth.<><><><><>
