Mr. Ishtiak Ahmad Khan, secretary ECP said that the Election Commission of Pakistan issued order regarding submission of appeal by the candidates contesting election to the Senate

 Islamabad the 15th February, 2012:- Mr. Ishtiak Ahmad Khan, secretary ECP said that the Election Commission of Pakistan issued order regarding submission of appeal by the candidates contesting election to the Senate as per following details:

a)     That Appeals arising out of decisions of Returning Officers rejecting Nomination Papers for Senate Elections shall be addressed to, and filed with, the Election Commission of Pakistan, which shall be heard and decided by it at ECP Secretariat, Islamabad. The appeals shall be filed in the following manner:

AREA/PROVINCE

PLACE

Federal Capital

Appeals to be filed before the Secretary, Election Commission in his office at ECP Secretariat, Islamabad

Sindh Province

Appeals to be filed in the office of the Secretary, Election Commission or with the Provincial Election Commissioner, Sindh, Karachi.

Punjab Province

Appeals to be filed in the office of the Secretary, Election Commission or with the Provincial Election Commissioner, Punjab, Lahore.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province and FATAs

Appeals to be filed in the office of the Secretary, Election Commission or with the Provincial Election Commissioner, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar.

Balochistan Province

Appeals to be filed in the office of the Secretary, Election Commission or with the Provincial Election Commissioner, Balochistan, Quetta.

b)     The appeal may be filed by the candidate himself or by a person authorized in writing by the candidate in this behalf.

c)      Announcement of the day and time for the hearing of appeals in the press and electronic media shall be deemed to be sufficient notice of the day and time so appointed.

 

d)     An appeal shall be in the form of a Memorandum, which shall state the date of rejection of the nomination and the grounds of appeal and shall be accompanied by a certified copy of the Order rejecting the nomination.

e)     Copies of Memorandum of Appeal shall be supplied by the appellant to all other candidates for the category for which the appellant had filed nomination paper. The receipts thereof shall also be attached with the Memorandum of Appeal.
