NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL OBSERVERS WILL BE WELCOMED TO OBSERVE 3RD PHASE OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS-2005.

Islamabad, the 23rd September, 2005.- Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, Federal Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan has said that it has always been policy of Election Commission to welcome National and International Observers to observe election process. In first two phases of Local Government Elections, a large number of Observers were facilitated by the Election Commission to observe Polling for elections of Union Councils throughout the country.
2. The Secretary Election Commission has further said that Mr. Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, Judge of the Supreme Court and Acting Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan has reiterated that for 3rd Phase of Local Government Elections for Zila Councils and Tehsil/Town Councils in all the four Provinces of the country, domestic and International Observers will be welcomed. As per past practice, they will be free to visit polling stations of their choice to observe the polling process. For this purpose, the Election Commission will provide them accreditation Cards and will also brief them about polling process of elections for Zila Councils and Tehsil/Town Councils.
