MOBILE PHONE NOT BE CARRIED INSIDE POLLING STATIONS.

           Islamabad, the 3rd October, 2005.-  Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, Federal Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan has once again drawn attention to Rule 27 of the Local Government Elections Rules, which provides that the Presiding Officer shall, subject to such instructions as the Chief Election Commissioner or a District Returning Officer or Returning Officer may give in this behalf, regulate the number of voters to be admitted to the polling station at a time and exclude from the polling station all other persons except any person on duty in connection with the election, the contesting candidates, their election agents and polling agents and such other persons as may be specifically permitted by the Returning Officer.
 
 
2.         Federal Secretary Election Commission has further said that the Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan Mr. Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar has, therefore, been pleased to direct that in order to ensure that polling proceeds smoothly and in orderly manner, the election agents or polling agents as well as voters will not carry their mobile phones inside polling stations during polling hours and until counting of votes is completed.
