NUMBER OF STATEMENTS OF ASSETS AND LIABILITIES FILED BY THE PARLIAMENTARIANS AND MEMBERS OF THE PROVINCIAL ASSEMBLIES.
Islamabad, 6th October, 2009. – Mr. Ishtiak Ahmad Khan, Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan has stated that 349 Members of the Parliament and Provincial Assemblies have not so far submitted their statements of assets and liabilities to the Election Commission of Pakistan, though the last date i.e. 30th September, 2009 for submitting statements has already elapsed.
2. The Secretary further stated that the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner has drawn the attention of the Members of the Parliament and Provincial Assemblies to the provisions of Section 42A (3) of the Representation of the People Act, 1976 and Section 25A (3) of the Senate (Election) Act, 1975, according to which the names of such Members are to be notified by the 15th October, 2009, as a result of which, such Members shall cease to function till such statements are submitted.
