N. I. C. NO PHOTOCOPY OF THE I.D. CARD SHALL BE ACCEPTED AT THE TIME OF CASTING OF VOTE BY THE VOTER.

Islamabad, October 3, 2005.- Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, Federal Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan has said that the Chief Election Commissioner has been pleased to allow the voters to cast their votes on production of either computerized NIC or old NIC and has directed that the Presiding Officers shall entertain only original National Identity Card whether new or old and no photo copy of the Identity Card shall be accepted at the time of casting of vote by the voters.
The Federal Secretary further said that the Chief Election Commissioner has further been pleased to direct that possession of the Identity Card issued by the concerned Assistant Election Commission is not mandatory/compulsory at the time of casting vote in the election to the seats of Zila Nazims as well as Tehsil/Town Nazims and the reserved seats for women, Peasants/Workers and Minority Communities in Zila Council and Tehsil/Town Councils.
