A meeting was held today in the office of the Provincial Election Commissioner, Sindh, Karachi under the chairmanship of Acting Chief Election Commissioner Pakistan Mr. Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, Judge Supreme Court of Pakistan to discuss the final arrangements made by the District Returning Officers, City District Administration Karachi and Police Authorities. The meeting was attended by Secretary, Local Government, Capital City Police Officer, Representatives of District Government and field officers. Besides, the meeting was attended by Federal Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan Mr. Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad and Provincial Election Commissioner, Sindh Mr. Ahmed Ali Halepota.
2- District and Sessions Judges of Karachi briefed the Hob’ble Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan about the arrangements so far finalized by them and difficulties faced. The Hon’ble CEC directed the district administration to ensure that all facilities including transport and short-fall of staff is met out without fail and closed coordination made by them.
3- The Capital City Police Officer also briefed about the law and order situation in Karachi and it was assured that foolproof arrangements have been made by them.
4- The Federal Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan in his opening remarks enumerated the objects of the meeting and said the meeting is being held to review arrangements for Local Government Elections – 2005.
