PERSONAL APPEARANCE OF A CANDIDATE IS NOT COMPULSORY FOR OBTAINING EXTRACT OF THE ELECTORAL ROLLS FROM THE OFFICES OF THE ELECTION COMMISSION

 

                        Islamabad, the 24th September, 2007.-   The Spokesman of the Election Commission of Pakistan has clarified that personal appearance of a candidate for the office of the President of Pakistan or for National/ Provincial Assemblies elections is not compulsory for obtaining  the extract of the Electoral Rolls from the office of the Registration Officer/Assistant Election Commissioner/ Deputy Election Commissioner concerned. Any person can apply for extract of the Electoral Rolls of any candidate by making an application on a simple paper to the concerned Registration Officer.
 
2.                     The above clarification has been issued in response to an Editorial published in national news, dated the 24th September, 2007, wherein it has wrongly been mentioned that the candidate has to personally appear for obtaining the extract of the Electoral Rolls from the election office.
