POLITICAL PARTIES SHALL NOT BE ENTITLED TO OBTAIN ELECTION SYMBOLS WHICH FAIL TO SUBMIT THE CERTIFICATES OF THEIR INTRA-PARTY ELECTIONS

            Islamabad, the 14th November, 2006:- Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, Federal Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan has said that Mr. Justice (R) Qazi Muhammad Farooq, has drawn attention of the party leaders of the political parties, who have not submitted their certificates regarding intra-party elections to the provisions of Articles 11 & 12 of the Political Parties Order, 2002 read with Rule 7 of the Political Parties Rules, 2002 , which require that the party leader of each political party shall, within seven days from completion of intra-party elections submit a certificate under his signature to the Election Commission to the effect that the elections were held in accordance with the Constitution of the Party and the Political Parties Order, 2002, for electing the party leader and other office bearers at the Federal, Provincial and local levels, wherever applicable. 
 
 
2.         The Secretary, Election Commission has further clarified that the Election Commission has to publish for public information the certificates including details of intra-party elections, after satisfaction that the certificates fulfill the requirements of Articles 11 & 12 of the Order and that the symbols will be allotted by the Election Commission of Pakistan to the political parties subject to fulfillment of the provisions of Political Parties Order, 2002 and the rules framed thereunder.
