(Preparation of Fresh Computerized Electoral Rolls )
Lahore, the 26th August, 2006.- Mr. Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, Federal Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan presided over a high level meeting at Provincial Headquarter, Lahore to review the progress of ongoing operation of Preparation of Fresh Computerized Electoral Rolls in the Province. The Federal Secretary expressed his satisfaction over the progress so far made. He stated that the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan had already urged upon the public to cooperate with enumeration staff appointed for the purpose to get themselves registered so that this important task of national interest could be completed within stipulated time. The Federal Secretary further stated that sufficient quantity of relevant forms was available with the enumeration staff and advised that in case of any shortage or complaint the Assistant Election Commissioner/Registration Officer concerned may be approached for supply of forms. Moreover the respective Deputy Election Commissioners and Provincial Election Commissioners could also be contacted for the Purpose. The meeting was attended by Mr. Ayaz Muhammad Baig, Provincial Election Commissioner, Punjab, Mr. R. B. Jan Wahidi, Joint Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan, and Mr. Z. A. Farooqui, Joint Provincial Election Commissioner, Punjab.

A Foreign delegation comprising Ms. Roselyn O’Connell, Member, Republican Party, Arizona and former President, National Women Political Caucus accompanied by Mr. Bryan Hunt, Principal Officer, U.S. Consulate, Lahore, Amanda C. Pilz, new Political Officer of the Consulate also called upon Mr. K. M. Dilshad, today at Lahore. The Federal Secretary briefed the delegation about the preparations being made by the Election Commission of Pakistan and informed that the Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan has already emphasized to ensure neutrality impartiality and objectivity in the coming elections and to conduct the elections in a free, fair and transparent manner. The delegation expressed satisfaction over the steps taken by Election Commission of Pakistan so far in this regard.
3. Mr. K. M. Dilshad, Federal Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan also presided over a meeting of DDWP in the office of Provincial Election Commissioner, Punjab, Lahore held in connection with construction of a new block in the premises of the office of Provincial Election Commissioner, Punjab. The meeting after deliberation accorded approval to PC-I of new building block and decided to provide funds immediately, so as to commence the work of construction and complete it within a year. The project is meant for catering future demands of office accommodation for the officers and staff of the Election Commission of Pakistan at Lahore. The meeting was attended by Mr. Ayaz Muhammad Baig, Provincial Election Commissioner, Punjab, Mr. R. B. Jan Wahidi, Joint Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan, Mrs. Farhat Khan, Joint Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan, and Mian Iftikhar Ali Shah, Deputy Financial Advisor, Election Commission of Pakistan in addition to Mr. Abrar Hussain Khan, Executive Engineer, Central Civil Division-1 Pak. P.W.D, and Captain Ibrar Hussain, Executive Engineer Central E/M Division-1 Pak. P.W.D.
