Press Release Regarding PS-11 Shikarpur-III (By-Election)

Bye-election on Provincial Assembly of Sindh PS-11 Shikarpur-III is scheduled to be held on 20-10-2016. In the nomination process, two candidates of the political parties i.e. Pakistan People’s Party and Jumiat Ulma-e-Islam were denied party Symbols on the ground that both the parties have not conducted Intra Party Election and haven’t submitted the statement of account as per requirement of political parties order 2002. Both the candidates filed application to the Election Commission of Pakistan.

The Election Commission, after going through the record, decided that statement of account of these parties have already been submitted. As far as the Intra Party Elections are concerned, the PPPP produced a certificate stating that the party organization has taken a decision on 27-12-2015 to hold Intra Party Elections on 24-01-2017, while JUI (F) provided a certificate that the party election has taken place on 11-08-2014 and thus, the new election is due on 11-08-2017 if JUI (F) holds the election within three years. JUI (F) was also directed by the Election Commission to mention the duration of Intra Party election.

Consequently, both the petitions of the parties are accepted, and direction is issued to Returning Officer (RO) of PS-11 (Shikarpur-III) to allot Arrow to PPPP’s candidate and the symbol of Book to JUI(F)’s candidate with immediate effect in or
