PRINTING OF DRAFT COMPUTERIZED ELECTORAL ROLLS COMPLETED

                        Islamabad, the 24th May, 2007.- Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, Federal Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan has said that printing of Draft Computerized Electoral Rolls has been completed, which will be displayed shortly throughout the country for inspection of general public. For this gigantic task of National importance, in all 45,403 Display Centers have been established in 111 Districts and 7 Agencies (FATAs) of the country for the purpose and that the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner has appointed 950 Revising Authorities in consultation with the Hon’ble Chief Justices of the High Courts. The Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner has also requested Hon’ble Chief Justices of the High Courts that during the 2nd Phase of Preparation of Computerized Electoral Rolls, which will commence with the Display of Draft Electoral Rolls throughout the Country, no transfers should be made of those Judicial Officers, who have been appointed as Revising Authorities so that the process of filing and disposal of Claims (for inclusion), Objections (for deletion) and Applications (for corrections) is accomplished successfully within the stipulated period.
 
 
2.                     He said that there are 81,437 electoral areas, 1,98,49,770 households and 102,464 census blocks in the country. The process of Preparation of Fresh Electoral Rolls commenced on 14th July, 2006 throughout the country by house-to-house enumeration. For the purpose, the Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan appointed 86,874 Enumerators, 29,002 Supervisors, 2,232 Assistant Registration Officer (AROs) and 145 Registration Officer (ROs) and assigned areas of jurisdiction to Enumerators, Supervisors and AROs so appointed. They worked under the supervision of Registration Officer based in each district, who is called Assistant Election Commissioner. In certain districts, Deputy Election Commissioners were also designated by the Chief Election Commissioner to act as Registration Officers for the preparation of electoral rolls
