PROCEDURE FOR FILING OF NOMINATION PAPERS FOR ELECTION TO THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT-2007
SECRETARY ELECTION COMMISSION
Islamabad, the 25th September, 2007.- Queries are being made by the candidates desirous of filing Nomination Forms on 27th September, 2007 for Election to the office of the President, regarding the procedure and the documents required to be submitted along with the Nomination Forms.
In this connection, Kanwar Dilshad, Federal Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan has drawn attention of the candidates towards the provisions of Paragraph 4 of Second Schedule to the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Rule 3(2) of the Presidential Election Rules, 1988, which are reproduced hereunder:
Paragraph 4 of Second Schedule of the Constitution.
At any time before noon on the day fixed for nomination any member of the Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) or of a Provincial Assembly may nominate for election as President a person qualified for election as President by delivering to the Presiding Officer a nomination paper, signed by himself as proposer and by another member of the Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) or, as the case may be Assembly as seconder, together with a statement signed by the person nominated that he consents to the nomination.
Rule 3(2) of the Presidential Election Rules, 1988.
Every nomination paper shall be accompanied by an attested copy of the extract from the electoral roll in which the person nominated is enrolled as a voter and attested copies of the identity cards of the proposer and the seconder issued by the Senate Secretariat, National Assembly Secretariat or, as the case may be, Provincial Assemblies Secretariats
