Islamabad the 13th March, 2008
No.F.6(1)/2007.- WHEREAS, Begum Tahmina Daultana and Mrs. Khush Bakht Shujat were notified vide this Commission’s Notification of even number, dated the 6th March, 2008, as returned candidates of PML (N) and MQM, respectively from the seats reserved for Women in National Assembly of Pakistan from the Punjab Province and Sindh Province.
AND WHEREAS, due to resignations of Begum Tahmina Daultana W/o Zahid Anwar Wala and Mrs. Khush Bakht Shujat W/o Shujat Ali Baig, two seats reserved for Women have become vacant in the National Assembly of Pakistan from the Punjab Province and Sindh Province respectively.
AND WHEREAS, in terms of Article 8F (3) of the Conduct of General Elections Order, 2002, next candidate on the Priority List of PML (N) and list of Contesting Candidates drawn by the Returning Officer concerned on Form-V is Qudsia Arshad on the seat reserved for Women in the National Assembly from Punjab Province.
AND WHEREAS, in terms of Article 8F (3) of the Conduct of General Elections Order, 2002, next candidate on the Priority List of MQM and list of Contesting Candidates drawn by the Returning Officer concerned on Form-V is Mrs. Naheed Shahid Ali on the seat reserved for Women in the National Assembly from Sindh Province.
AND WHEREAS, the next candidate of Priority List of Pakistan Muslim League (N) and Muttahida Quami Movement (Pakistan) for the said seats, Qudsia Arshad W/o Muhammad Arshad Chaudhary and Dr. Naheed Shahid Ali W/o Syed Shahid Ali have become eligible to be declared as returned candidates on the above-mentioned reserved seats.
NOW, THEREFORE, in pursuance of afore-mentioned provisions of law, the Election Commission of Pakistan hereby declares Qudsia Arshad W/o Muhammad Arshad Chaudhary and Dr. Naheed Shahid Ali W/o Syed Shahid Ali, as returned candidates to the aforesaid vacant seats reserved for Women in the National Assembly of Pakistan from the Punjab and Sindh Provinces, as per details given below:
