         Islamabad, the 5th February, 2009.- Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan has stated that Mr. Justice ® Qazi Muhammad Farooq, Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan has announced the Programme for Senate Elections, 2009. According to the Schedule, the Elections in all the four Provinces as well as the Federal Capital and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATAs) will be held on the 4th March, 2009. The Programme is as under:

2.      Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad has stated that the names of Returning Officers and Polling Officers for the conduct of Senate Elections, 2009 have already been notified by the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner. He further stated that the Senate Elections are being held to fill 50 seats to be vacated by the Members of the Senate, who are due to retire after the completion of their term on the 11th March, 2009.
 
3.      The Secretary Election Commission has further informed that in order to facilitate the prospective candidates for Senate Elections-2009, the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner has directed that necessary arrangements be made by the Returning Officers in their respective offices to ensure the availability of Nomination Forms.
