SIX MNA's/MPA's PLEADED THEIR CASES ABOUT FAKE/INVALID DEGREES

            Islamabad, the 15th November, 2010:-        The hearing regarding fake/ invalid degrees held today under the Chairmanship of Mr. Muhammad Afzal Khan, the Nominated Officer of Election Commission of Pakistan under the direction of Supreme Court of Pakistan. The Representative/Focal Person of Higher Education Commission (HEC), Mr. Rahim Bux Channa was also present. The detail is as under:

 
            Barrister Gohar Ali khan, the Counsel of Syed Akhunzada Chitan (NA-44), appeared and informed that the matter regarding fake degree of his client is subjudice, as two election petitions are under trial in the Election Tribunal, Abbottabad. He requested the committee to allow his client to defend his case in the said forum. The committee advised him to provide copies of the election petitions.
 
            Mr. Mustafa Nawaz Khokar, Advocate appeared on behalf of Meer Humayun Aziz Kurd (NA-267) and submitted written arguments in support of his client. He also argued that the degree of his client was neither forged nor fake and his client does not come under the preview of corrupt practice. In response to his arguments, the committee informed him about the criteria of recognition of Universities and also advised him to prove validity of degree in the next date of hearing i.e. 13-12-2010.
 
            Mr. Muhammad Amjad appeared on behalf of Mr. Zulfiqar Ali (PP-271) and pleaded that the case of said MP’s challenging his degree is pending in the Election Tribunal, Lahore and copies of the case have already been produced before the committee. The committee informed him that the order sheet of the tribunal was not provided at the time of submission of documents. He was advised to provide order sheet of the court for necessary action accordingly.
 
            Ms Naseem Nasir Khawaja (PP-reserved) has sent a letter for seeking adjournment. The case has now been fixed for final hearing on 13-12-2010.
 
            Mr. Ali Abdullah Advocate, counsel of Syeda Majida Zaidi (PP reserved) appeared and sought adjournment and the committee fixed her case for final hearing on 29-11-2010.
 
             Ms Safina Saima Khar (PP reserved) has also sent written request for seeking adjournment. Her case has now been fixed for final hearing on 29-11-2010.
