SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES FOR ELECTIONS TO THE SENATE ADVISED TO SUBMIT THEIR RETURNS OF ELECTION EXPENSES TO THE CONCERNED RETURNING OFFICERS

             Islamabad, the 4th March, 2009.-  Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan has informed that for Elections to the Senate in NWFP and Balochistan as well as Federally Administered Tribal Areas, Polling has been completed and result of the Poll is being declared by the concerned Returning Officers after the Count of Votes.

2.       The Secretary, Election Commission has further informed that the Names of the Returned Candidates against Seats Reserved for Women and Technocrats/Ulema in the Senate from NWFP and against General Seats and Seats Reserved for Women and Technocrats/Ulema from Balochistan Province as well as General Seats from Federally Administered Tribal Areas will be notified by Mr. Justice ® Qazi Muhammad Farooq, Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan, after receipt of Returns of Election Expenses from the successful candidates.  The Returns of Election Expenses are to be submitted by the successful candidates to the concerned Returning Officers in the prescribed Form as required under Rule 37 of the Senate (Election) Rules, 1975 and shall be accompanied by an Affidavit to be sworn by the Returned Candidates under Rule 38 of the said Rules.  The Names of Returned Candidates shall not be published in the official Gazette who fail to submit the Return of Election Expenses as required by Section 24 of the Senate (Election) Act, 1975.
 
3.       Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad has, therefore, advised all the successful candidates to immediately submit their requisite Returns with the Returning Officers concerned.
