The Chief Election Commissioner calls upon the Members of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh to elect to the Senate one Member from that Province against the Seat Reserved for Ulema and Technocrats

                                                                                      Islamabad the 22^nd July, 2009

                   No.F.9(1)/2009-Cord (1). The Chief Election Commissioner, in pursuance of clause (5) of Article 224 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan read with section 10 and 77 of the Senate (Election) Act, 1975 (LI of 1975), hereby calls upon the Members of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh to elect to the Senate one Member from that Province against the Seat Reserved for Ulema and Technocrats, which has fallen vacant with effect from the 21^st July, 2009 on account of resignation tendered by Dr. Javaid Laghari and fixes in relation thereto, the following dates for the nomination of candidates, the scrutiny of nomination papers, last date for withdrawal of candidature and for the taking of the poll at the place noted below:

 

(a)	Public Notice inviting Nomination Papers	25-7-2009 (Saturday)
(b)	Nomination of candidates	27-7-2009 & 28-7-2009 (Monday & Tuesday) (Between 0900 hours and 1500 hours)
(c)	Scrutiny of nomination papers	29-7-2009 (Wednesday) (From 1000 hours to 1500 hours)
(d)	Last date for filing appeals, if any, against rejection of Nomination Papers (under Section 13(5) of the Senate (Election) Act, 1975) by	31-7-2009 (Friday) (From 0900 hours to 1400 hours)
(e)	Disposal of appeals against Rejection of nomination papers	2-8-2009 (Sunday)
(f)	Last date for withdrawal of candidature	3-8-2009 (Monday) (Between 0900 hours and 1500 hours)
(g)	Publication of list of contesting candidates	3-8-2009 (Monday)
(h)	Polling Day	7-8-2009 (Friday) (From 0900 hours to 1600 hours)
(i)	Place of Poll	Provincial Assembly Building, Karachi.
