The Election Commission has taken a serious view of the violations of its Directive dated 22nd January, 2013

 

Islamabad, the 30th January 2013.-        The Election Commission has taken a serious view of the following violations of its Directive dated 22nd January, 2013 that is reproduced below for reference purposes:

a.    That all kinds of recruitments in any Ministry, Division, Department or Institution of the Federal Government or any Department or Institution of any Provincial and Local governments is banned forthwith except recruitments by the Federal or a Provincial Public Service Commission.    

b.    That diversion of funds already allocated to various development projects in the country is banned forthwith and the spending of funds so diverted shall stand frozen forthwith.

 

i-          A news item has published in “Express Tribune” dated 29-01-2013 that Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has diverted Rs 1.2 billion from flood donation fund towards constituencies of the ruling Pakistan People Party (PPP). According to the report, the premier took the decision on a request sent by the Cabinet Division (the body overseeing the local and international donations).

 

ii-         Another news item has published in “The News” dated 30-01-2013, that Mr. Abdul Rehman Channa, the Chief Administrator of Auqaf Department, Government of Sindh was kidnapped and his staff was assaulted on 
29-01-2013 when he allegedly refused to obey illegal orders of Provincial Government, Sindh to issue funds for PPP Legislators and appoint 73 officials in his department.

 

iii-        Similarly, as per press report appearing in daily ‘Dunya’ Islamabad dated 30th January, 2013, the Railway Authorities in Peshawar have conducted written test for the recruitment against 33 vacant posts of Junior Assistants (Train) in which 1572 Candidates participated.

 

The Election Commission of Pakistan has, while taking serious notice of the above said actions, asked the Secretary Cabinet Division; the Secretary, Ministry of Railways, and the Chief Secretary, Government of Sindh to offer their comments, in this regard, within next seven days, for placing the same before the Hon’ble Election Commission of Pakistan.
