The Election Commission of Pakistan invites the attention of all Elected Independent Candidates of 1st, 2nd & 3rd phase of Local Government Elections-2015

                        Islamabad, the 22^nd December 2015.-   The Election Commission of Pakistan invites the attention of all Elected Independent Candidates of 1^st, 2^nd & 3^rd phase of Local Government Elections-2015 held on 31^st October 2015, 19^th November 2015 & 5^th December, 2015 respectively in the Punjab Province to the provision of Rule 39 of the Punjab Local Governments (Conduct of Elections) Rules, 2013 which provides that “An independent candidate elected under the Act and these rules may join a political party within seven days of publication in the official gazette of the names of returned candidates.”

                        Therefore, all the independent candidates intending to join any political party must ensure that an acceptance letter from the Political Party Leader addressed to the Returning Officer concerned has been delivered within stipulated period. Moreover, as Notifications of Returned Candidates of 1^st, 2^nd & 3^rd Phase of Local Government Elections in the Punjab Province have been issued and the Election Tribunals have been notified for resolution of disputes, all applicants/petitioners are requested to approach the Election Tribunals concerned for redressal of their grievances.
