Islamabad, the 24th December, 2005 :-   Mr. Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, Federal Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan, while talking to the On Line has stated that the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner, Mr. Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, has been pleased to order that Mr. Ayaz Muhammad Baig, Joint Secretary (Budget) is posted as Provincial Election Commissioner (Punjab), Lahore. 2.Ch. Qamar-uz-Zaman, Joint Secretary (Elections) is posted as Provincial Election Commissioner (Sindh), Karachi. 3.Mr. Sono Khan Baloch, Deputy Secretary is posted as Provincial Election Commissioner, Balochistan, Quetta. 4. Mr. Akhtar Hussain Sabir, Deputy Secretary is posted as Provincial Election Commissioner, NWFP, Peshawar. Mr. Muhammad Saleem Akhtar, Joint Secretary, retired from service and Mr. R. B. Jan Wahidi, Joint Secretary( Admn) who had gone abroad to serve the United Nations Mission in Liberia as an Electoral Advisor on return has assumed charge as Joint Secretary in the Election Commission Secretariat, Islamabad.  

 
 
He has further stated that Mr. Imran Siddiqui, Deputy Election Commissioner, Mirpurkhas has been promoted and posted as Joint Provincial Election Commissioner, Balochistan, Quetta, Mr. Imtiaz Alam, Deputy Election Commissioner, Abbottabad has been promoted and posted as Joint Provincial Election Commissioner, NWFP, Peshawar and Mr. Mehboob Anwar, Deputy Election Commissioner (Field), Karachi has been promoted and posted as Joint Provincial Election Commissioner, Sindh, Karachi.
 
 
Mr. Dilshad went on to say that the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner has been pleased to send 25 Assistant Election Commissioners to NIPA Karachi for getting training for two weeks about computer applications. Similarly, 15 Election Officers, who are recently promoted, have been nominated for getting intensive training on various subjects in the Federal Election Academy, Islamabad for one week from 2nd January, 2006. It may be mentioned here that Election Officers are posted at the Distrtict level and they are the focal persons because they represent the Election Commission at the grass roots level. 
 
 
Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad has further stated that the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner has desired that steps may be taken to set up the offices of Election Commission on modern footings to facilitate the general public to get to know the working of the Election Commission about organizing and conducting elections to various tiers of democratic institutions in the country. Computers have already been provided in all the offices of the Commission throughout the country which are being interlinked through net working. 
 
 
He has also stated that it is the desire of the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner that all officers of the Election Commission may be sent to the prestigious institutions in the country and abroad for their capacity building to enable them to equip themselves with the day to day modern techniques being introduced to streamline the electoral system and enhance the credibility of the democratic institutions.
