Islamabad, the 07th October, 2005.- Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, Federal Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan said that Acting Chief Election Commissioner Mr. Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, Judge of the Supreme Court has been pleased to release un-official Results of Local Government Indirect Elections, 2005 to Zila Councils and Tehsil/Town Councils (3rd Phase) in all the four Provinces of the country.
2. The Federal Secretary Election Commission added that Consolidation of Results in respect of Zila Councils and Tehsil/Town Councils has been undertaken by all Returning Officers concerned under the Local Government Elections Rules of all the four Provinces. He further added that after Consolidation of Results by the Returning Officers concerned, these Official Results of Zila Councils and Tehsil/Town Councils in all the four Provinces will be notified by the Election Commission for publication in the official Gazette, immediately on receipt from the Returning Officers concerned.
3. Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad further said that Indirect Elections to Zila Councils and Tehsil/Town Councils in 3rd Phase were held in 109 districts and 389 Tehsils/Towns of the country. In all there were 430 candidates to contest elections for seats of Zila Nazims whereas 1457 candidates contested elections for the seats of Tehsil/Town Nazims through out the country (except Ghotki district of Sindh Province stayed by High Court of Sindh and Zila Nazim Kharan district of Balochistan Province and Tehsil Nazim of Jhang district of Punjab Province stayed by the Supreme Court). There were 2,645 reserved seats for Women, Peasants/Workers and Minority Communities in Zila Councils of the Country and against these seats 7,184 candidates contested elections. Likewise, there were 2,927 reserved seats for Women, Peasants/Workers and Minority Communities in Tehsil/Town Councils of the Country and against these seats 9,382 candidates contested elections.
