The Election Commission of Pakistan publishes the name of the candidate returned elected un-contested as a result of Bye-Election to the Senate of Pakistan against a seat reserved for Technocrats including Ulema from Sindh Province fallen vacant owing to the resignation of Mr. A. Rehman Malik, for the un-expired term of office, which is due to expire on the 11th March, 2015

Mr. Justice (R) Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim took oath as Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan today i-e on Monday, the 23rd July, 2012 at 09:00 a.m. Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Chief Justice of Pakistan administered the oath at a simple but impressive ceremony held in the Supreme Court Building. The judges of Supreme Court, Members Election Commission alongwith officers of Election Commission of Pakistan and senior advocates attended the oath taking ceremony.

The Hon’ble Acting Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan Mr. Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan today visited Multan to review the arrangements for conduct of bye-election in Constituency No. NA-151 Multan-IV. His lordship held meetings with the contesting candidates of the Constituency and heard their concerns about the arrangements regarding bye-election, with particular reference to the directive issued by the ECP pursuant to the Judgment of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of Pakistan passed in CP No. 87/2011, dated 8th June, 2012

The Election Commission has fixed the last date for receipt of applications for postal ballot papers for Bye-Election to the Provincial Assembly Constituency No .PK-70 Bannu-I as 13th August,2012 .This facility, under the law, has been extended only to the persons in Government service, members of Armed Forces, holders of public offices, their wives and such of their children as are registered voters and ordinarily reside with them provided they are stationed at a place other than the place in which their constituency is situated. Persons detained in prison or held in other custody are also entitled to vote by postal ballot

The Election Commission of Pakistan has drawn attention of Contesting Candidates for Bye-Election in Constituency No. NA-151 Multan-IV to the provisions of Section 84 of the Representation of the People Act, 1976, which provide that no person shall convene, hold or attend any Public Meeting and no person shall promote or join in any procession within the area of the Constituency during a period of forty-eight hours ending at midnight following the conclusion of the Poll for an election in that Constituency.
