The Election Commission hereby publishes, for general information, the number of votes received by each contesting candidate in respect of the under-mentioned constituency in the Provincial Assembly of Punjab based on the results consolidated by the respective Returning Officer and name of the candidate who has received the highest number of votes in PP-243 D.G. KHAN-IV Constituency

The Election Commission of Pakistan taking notice of the alleged malpractices committed during bye-election held on 7th May 2012 in Constituency No. 243 D.G. Khan-IV, had ordered not to consolidate the official result of the aforesaid constituency and issued notices to all the contesting candidates, DRO, RO and concerned presiding officers for appearance before it today on 12th May 2012.

The Election Commission of Pakistan has taken notice of the failure of the local administration in making proper security arrangements for the conduct of bye-election held on 7th May 2012 in Constituency No. 243 DG Khan-IV as well as failure of police in maintaining law and order situation therein, which resulted into commission of malpractices at some of the polling stations, as reported by the Provincial Election Commissioner, Punjab and District Returning Officer, D.G. Khan.

The Hon’ble Acting Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan Mr. Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan visited NADRA Headquarters to see the process of revision of the electoral rolls being carried out by the ECP in collaboration with NADRA. His lordship observed the process of scanning of Forms-IV, V and VI, received by NADRA from Election Commission’s field offices as well as the data-entry thereof. The Polling for Bye-election in Provincial Assembly of Punjab Constituency No. PP-194 Multan-I is being held on 26th April, 2012. As per past practice, it is proposed that a Control Room in the ECP Secretariat, Islamabad under the supervision of Director General (Elections) may be established to receive Polling day complaints and Preliminary result of Bye-Election.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has declared Mrs. Shaheen Shafiq w/o Shafiq Ahmed khan and Mrs. Seema Mohiuddin Jameeli w/o Mohidduin Jameeli as returned candidates on the seats reserved for Women in the National Assembly of Pakistan whereas Ms. Shumaila Rana D/o Rana Hidayat Ali has been declared returned candidate on the seat reserved for Women in the Provincial Assembly of Punjab.

The Hon’ble Acting Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan Mr. Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan visited Tando Muhammad Khan District on 24.04.2012 in order to review the arrangements made for the conduct of Bye-election in constituency No. PS-53-Tando Muhammad Khan-Cum-Hyderabad (Old Hyderabad-XI). On arrival, his lordship visited some polling stations in the constituency and observed mock polling there. He then chaired a meeting with the contesting candidates in the Conference Room at Circuit House, T.M.Khan and heard the concerns of the contesting candidates as to the forthcoming bye-election. He assured them that all possible steps will be taken to redress their concerns and to ensure that the Bye-election is conducted honestly, justly, fairly and in accordance with law and that the corrupt practices are guarded against.
